Again Some major changes done by 1971 to 1974:

Late 1971: The tremolo is changed to the Mazak Die Cast 1-piece bridges. Same goes for the saddles. Another cost cutting move from CBS

Late 1971: 3-Bolt with Micro Tilt is taken in use. This was a Leo Fender design who still was a consultant with Fender.

Later 1971: For the first time in history, Headstock trussrod adjust is being used, soon being named the “Bullet Trussrod”

Late 1971: Less contoured body with slightly more square rout out in the pickup cavity.

Late 1972: Second String Tree is added

1973: Black Pickguard makes its debut on Mocha Brown finish only.

1974: Staggered pickups changes to flush pole.
