INFO:
“The Strat” was Fenders attempt to boost sales with a deluxe style Stratocaster. A new tremolo in massive die cast brass fully gold plated, and a rotary loaded wiring for 9 different sounds. All hardware had 22 carat gold plating and a matching painted headstock on most colors.
Gone were the large headstock and 3-screw necks as a reclaim to pre-cbs style build. This was manufactered at a time where CBS was struggling with poor sales.
Much against CBS cost-cutting tacticts that had degraded the Stratocasters quality over time, The company went all in with this model making “The Strat” a very expensive guitar to manufacture. They discontinued it after only 3 years because of high production costs.
