This signature was inspired some by Stevie Ray Vaughn´s model, most evident on the Black1 issue. and these guitars  has grown in value since it ended its run. The collaboration between Fender and Mayer ended after Mayer did not feel he was obliged his wishes for his requests to take his signature to more modern levels as Fender thought his ideas was to intrusive to the core design of the Stratocaster, forcing him to cut ties (on good terms) with the company.

Some short time later, he ended up calling PRS and they were on board with his wishes. Thus gave birth to the immensly popular Silver-Sky in 2018. 

For this model, the Big Dipper pickups are unique due to its scooped high and low boosted levels, and sells alone for very high value.
