The Highway One series together with its successors was a marketing move to provide “Made in USA” Stratocaster for lower price. To achieve low pricing, the hardware was PING (Taiwan parts used in MIM Guitars) mounted on Necks and Bodies cut in USA and sent to Mexico for finishing.
All finished parts was assembled in USA. with Mexico wound pickups. To cut cost more, they only came with a deluxe gig bag.
